ABARA HOUSE
BORDERLAND CENTER
Total Loans: $1.3 MILLION
STEWARDS OF LAND AND LOANS
We honor the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo and the Mescalero Apache, two Indigenous tribes with roots in the area. We honor the magnificent heritage and heartbeat of our Mexican and Mexican-American neighbors, Chicana/o and Latina/o communities, African Diaspora, Chinese decendents, fellow El Pasoans–the blend of so many families and cultural memories, and all who first inhabited the land where Abara is invited to join others as stewards and caretakers in this place of pain, lament, healing, restoration and celebration for the common good.

ABARA HOUSE
BORDERLAND CENTER
TIMELINE + PHASES
The following details outline our immediate goals for partnership with you, including potential scenarios to pay back loans and immediately pursue action. For example, there are six 1,000 unit apartments behind the Historic Hacienda. An estimated 2 million would allow Abara to secure purchase and begin renovating the apartments for Border Encounter groups while providing Overflow Guest Housing with refugee and migrant families. We are still determining numbers re: additional operational funding - which will give Abara a longer runway to begin generating income as a not-for-profit entity.
